a. FACTPACKS: We’ve created and will continue to create FACTPACKS, for use by our canvassers. These FACTPACKS consist of 2 sections; “a Quick Reaction Section,” composed of simple, bumper-sticker friendly responses to Republican talking points; and the “Two Sheet,” which contains the empirical data we’ve assembled to back up our positions.
b. TRAINING AND EDUCATION: Our canvassers will not be venturing out without having been trained not only to respond to Republican talking points, but to have a solid understanding of the underpinning issues.
c. OPERATION “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” (YANA): Rural Republicans largely live in an information bubble caused by a circular feeding tube of increasingly outlandish propaganda and conspiracy theory. OPERATION YANA seeks to address this with an AGGRESSIVE ‘sticker’ campaign; placing cheap-to-manufacture, hard-to-remove stickers with information, images, slogans, and etc, in such quantities that they cannot be ignored. On gas pumps, in restroom stalls, in public places, on stop signs, EVERYWHERE. Both as an information-delivery system and an all-important sign to Dem and Rep alike that “You Are Not Alone.”
a. PANCAKE DIPLOMACY: There are many disparate and sometimes fractious Democratic groups in NW Georgia, and communication, coordination, and collaboration must be improved. Through events that we co-sponsor we are helping to tighten bonds with other Democratic groups, not only in Paulding but in the surrounding 5-County area.
b. RAISING DEMOCRACY’S VISIBILITY IN PAULDING COUNTY: Voter suppression is not just about closing polling places, or limiting the available times to vote. It’s also about the daily surrounding social pressures, up to and including the threat of physical violence. This has a compounding effect; as less and less Democrats stand up and show their faces, democrats feel more and more isolated and alone. Our events, our postcards, our stickers, all combine to create an atmosphere more suitable to “coming out of the closet” as Democrats.
c. RECRUITING: The latest election Paulding was able to field almost twice the number of candidates for posts as we were last election—from school board to Lt. Governor. Marcus Flowers is running an excellent campaign against Marjorie Taylor Greene.
d. MORALE: It is impossible to overstate the morale boost to the strained, overstressed Blue Dots that comes from the interest and assistance in them directly from Blue State resources.
These events also:
1: Recruit and train canvassers
2: Recruit poll watchers
3: Continuously register voters
4: Feed people
e. ACCOMPLISHMENT: All this has another effect on, as well; engendering dialogue, reconnecting with old friends, building a sense of community, combatting this crippling sense of malaise and crawling horror we all feel. Doing a small job and seeing it done is great for the morale. As my mom used to like to say— “Feeling hopeless? Overwhelmed? Make your bed.”
